Sneak Peak From QWick Guides: Montana Hot Springs Book!

Posted on March 15, 2012

For nearly a year Cassie and I, and anyone else that we could convince to come with, have been flipping this huge state upside-down in search of hot water. Our goal: creating the fourth guide book for QWick Guides. This guide diverges a bit from the previous editions of QWG; veering away from local trails and trail systems. We set out to detail the numerous hot spring destinations all around Montana. It was a bit of a challenge, but we think it’s shaping up to be something we are really proud of.

Below is a link to a few sample pages still in the draft stages of publication. Please take some time to look through them and see what we have in store for you! Of course I welcome any feedback or suggestions you may have; please email those to

In line with the “QWick” philosophy driving the series of books, QWG: MT Hot Springs will look less like the King James Bible and more a slim, efficient publication that encourages people to get out and explore the awesomeness Montana has to offer. Simple has never meant simplistic.

The guide will include a wide range of over 20 destinations, from hike-to natural springs to commercialized destination resorts and every shade of hot springs in between. A goal of ours was to squash some of the misconceptions of hot springing in an easy to use, all-inclusive book. Currently, the book will contain 19 locations,  information pages to explain etiquette points, tips, full-color photographs, and the numerous icons to provide a ‘qwick’ reference to the services provided at each spring.

In the end, our love of this area and our enjoyment of taking trips to explore new and different hot springs around the state is what makes up the pages of the book.

Publication is set for late spring; we’re shooting for the beginning of May. Keep an eye on thejonwickproject and your local bookstores!
