Bio.

Hey all!

First off, thanks for coming to check out The Jon Wick Project. This website is the result of a confluence of circumstance, opportunity, interest, encouragement, and free time. Let me explain what I mean by taking you back in time.

I was born and raised on the shores of Lake Michigan in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. I graduated as a Lincoln High Ship (yeah, our mascot was awesome) in 1999. Like seemingly all teens, there was “nothin’ to do” in Manty, and after graduation I headed to the University of Northern Iowa. I received a B.A. in elementary education in 2004 only after heading to Alaska’s beautiful Kenai Peninsula for my student teaching. The world of teaching led me to Philipsburg, Montana where I headed up the 5th grade classroom for four years. I’m currently in Butte, MT getting my masters degree in technical communication at Montana Tech, fixing and selling bikes at the local shop, and exploring the mountains every chance I get.

With the many place I’ve called home, I’ve been fortunate to have met great people, great beauty, and great inspiration. Somewhere along my journey I caught a travel bug, which led my wife and I to the humbling and incredible experience of teaching English in South Korea in 2008-2009. I started sharing my experiences with family and friends through writing and photography while in Asia. As circumstances have it,  published my first article in early 2009–and I haven’t really stopped writing since. I’m now the managing editor of the travel website www.theexpeditioner.com. I encourage everyone to stop by often to soak up the news, tips, destinations, experiences, and shenanigans the wonderful Exped team writes about. In 2010, The Expeditioner went to print, publishing a collection of travel writing from some amazing authors titled The Expeditioner’s Guide to the World: Intrepid Tales of Awesomeness from the Open Road of which I am a co-editor and author two stories.

Writing has rejuvenated the creative half of my brain. Since I’ve begun writing, I started a growing line of quick-reference guidebooks–QWick Guides– for western Montana, started designing logos, branding, and business identifications kits, getting more involved with my photography, creating videos, dabbling in website design, and trying to combine them all through travel. It’s been an incredible ride and I can’t wait to see where it takes me. That, more or less, brings us back to where we started… The Jon Wick Project.

This site is an attempt to consolidate all these projecta into yet another project. I hope you enjoy. Don’t forget to stop back often to see the very latest designs, writing, travels, photos, thoughts, and life. If you so wish, feel free to subscribe to this by means of the link in the upper right-hand corner!

Cheers!
